A Hug for a Book!

I have been a librarian or a library teacher or a library media specialist or the lady in charge of the books for about 40 days now and things are progressing reasonably well. I have already learned a whole lot...
  • I have nearly learned all 220 student's names.
  • I have learned that the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney does not even make it out of the check in box to the shelf before it is snatched up!
  • I have learned that the Bone series by Jeff Smith does not even make it into the check in box. It is exchanged between students leaving out the inconvenience of dropping it into the box to be checked in.
  • I have learned that non fiction flies out the library doors - in all grade levels.
  • I have learned a whole heap of good stuff from experienced librarian's blogs like Tara Ethridge and Doug Johnson
  • I have learned that in order to get a hug from a student in the lunch room, all you have to do is tell him that the book he has been waiting for has finally been returned.
I feel all of these things are good things to have learned!
